Testimonials

Simply put, Kristen is amazing! Kristen shares her experience both as a mother and a professional Lactation Consultant, with a calm, clear head to all those new to the world of motherhood.

When my wife was worried our son was not getting enough breast milk, Kristen logically weighed our son before and after feeding. This act, and only this act, brought the reassurance my wife needed to feel successful and confident in nursing and nurturing our son.

Kristen has invited new mothers in the community to come together to share and support one another. The friendships made are supportive, caring, and lifelong. Frankly, this group of Mom friends helped me get through the pandemic year of 2020 with a young toddler!

We are so thankful Kristen is in our lives and our community. As we look forward to the birth of our second baby we are comforted knowing she will be there to help along the way.

Kristen saved my nursing relationship with our daughter!

After dealing with double mastitis and an allergic reaction to antibiotics that landed me in the hospital when my daughter was only 3 weeks old I was pretty sure my nursing days were over and I was heartbroken.

Kristen helped us continue breastfeeding without ever making me feel guilty for supplementing with formula. She did weigh feeds to ensure my daughter was getting enough as my supply returned which gave me huge peace of mind, and was available by text and phone anytime I had questions.

She always made me feel listened to and approached everything with a positive attitude, smile and even a touch of humor. After a few weeks, I was able to return to exclusively breastfeeding, a goal I never would have reached without her expertise and guidance.

I truly don’t know what I would have done without her!

I came across Kristen as my 4th attempt at finding a lactation consultant and I’m so glad I didn’t give up. She was extremely knowledgeable on all things from latch to supply to nipple care and yet not overbearing or judgy in the process. She made me feel very comfortable to ask any question. She also welcomed my husband to be included and educated him on how to be helpful.

When I had mastitis she was so helpful and seemed to have all the answers. Kristen also made sure I knew how to use my pump. I honestly credit Kristen with setting me up on solid ground to successfully nurse my first son for ten months and now my second.

I can’t say enough good things about Kristen!

Kristen is what I call my new nursing mom angel! She was such a blessing to me in the early days of motherhood and supported me through two nurslings over 5 years. I initially attended one of Kristen’s breastfeeding classes but also had the blessing of a continued relationship with her as my lactation consultant.

In those early fuzzy newborn days, I vividly remember the love and support Kristen provided to launch my baby and I on our successful breastfeeding journey!

She assisted me with proper latching, troubleshooting, and even navigated me through nursing through pregnancy and eventually tandem nursing! She will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you for helping me share such a magical gift with my babies.

I met Kristen Sorondo at the hospital when I gave birth to my son, and from the start she was such a warm and comforting presence! Breast feeding and all things related is probably the most stressful part of having a new baby, and it was amazing to meet someone so knowledgeable.

When breast feeding didn’t go as expected for us she came to my house several times to help with adjusting my son’s latch, helping me successfully increase my supply from an under producer to an over producer, and answered all my questions about pumping. She referred us to an excellent speech and language pathologist to resolve his ties.

I am so grateful to have had Kristen as a resource throughout my feeding journey, and her personal followups really made me feel cared for, which was exactly what I needed in the stressful weeks after birth.

Kristen was honestly a godsend for me. I thought I had the hang of nursing and then everything seemed to fall apart.

I reached out to Kristen to come do a home visit. She helped me gain confidence in nursing, understand how to get my daughter to have a better latch and helped me get in a better nursing rhythm.

Not only is she caring and approachable—she is hilarious, which sometimes you need when you are dealing with nursing troubles! After that first visit Kristen and I stayed in touch and she came to my house for a second visit to check in and see how everything was going.

She recommended a home-made salve that really helped reduce redness and irritation around my areolas and nipples.

I will definitely reach out to Kristen if I ever need help nursing in the future and highly recommend her services.

I have known Kristen since becoming a new mom almost 2.5 years ago.

Kristen is a kind, loving, nurturing and supportive person. She helped me overcome hurdles that at times felt like mountains in the beginning months of motherhood.

She is always welcoming with a warm smile and a hug. I am so happy she has been a part of my and my little ones life.

I feel very fortunate to have found her.

Kristen has been so helpful for my breastfeeding journey. I had heard so many horror stories from new moms when it came to breastfeeding. Some of those stories were from before they even left the hospital. Staff not listening to their wants and needs, but Kristen made sure that I was able to breastfed my baby the way I wanted to. She gave me support and encouragement. From the start she was able to help my baby and me with latching and different tips on helping with sore nipples in those first few weeks. After a few weeks, breastfeeding became more natural to my baby and myself.

Things were easy going until I went back to work. After a few weeks of being back to work, my milk supply dropped; I became very frustrated and looked to Kristen for help. She informed me of so many ways to help increase my milk supply. Between tips and tricks and different supplements, I was able to bring my supply back up to where it needed to be. I am so grateful to have Kristen in my life and I have recommended her to many new moms in the area. She is so knowledgeable and willing to work with you to make sure that your breastfeeding journey is what you want it to be.

Thank you Kristen for helping my baby and myself to get to where we are today!

Being a mom is hard.  Being a first time mom is even harder.  For the first few months of my daughter’s life, I was completely overwhelmed.

And then I found Kristen.

Breastfeeding is hard, and I was so worried that my baby was not getting enough milk.  Kristen helped to encourage me through weighted feeds and resources.

Through Kristen’s care and support, I met the most amazing group of moms, and I could not imagine being on this crazy motherhood journey without them.

Thank you Kristen, for supporting me and helping me to get through the tough times raising a newborn.

Kristen is amazing and passionate about what she does. When I had my first child 9 years ago, she was my neighbor and came by to congratulate us, meet the baby, bring us a meal, and even offered her services to check how my breastfeeding is going.

As a first time mom and breastfeeder, this was awkward for me to talk about. I thought it was going fine, but didn’t ‘know’ for sure. So I took her up on her offer. The next day she came by with a scale and her expertise.

And I’m so glad she did. She weighed my little guy, had me feed him, then weighed him again to see how much he was actually eating. And to my surprise, after “eating” for awhile, it turned out he wasn’t getting as much as I thought.

She taught me how to look for how his chin moves while sucking, the positioning of his body and head, and how to tell the difference between sucking for food or just comfort. I was amazed at how these little changes made such a difference.

And I have used this lactation consulting knowledge with each child after. Thank you Kristen for helping me effectively nourish my babies more confidently over the years.

When I came to Kristen my nipples were cracked, my supply was low, and I felt like my breastfeeding journey was about to be over.

She helped me heal, increase my supply, and got me the help I needed to keep going on! She made me feel so comfortable and more confident in my ability to feed my son.

I can’t recommend her enough to any lactating mother!

I had seen two lactation consultants before Kristen and didn’t feel like I got the help or support i needed.

I was suffering and so was baby. With Kristen’s help we got off a nipple shield, received better information about my needed diet modifications and got the extra help we didn’t need we knew for a severe tongue tie.

Having her along for my breast feeding journey has made all the difference. I didn’t think I was going to make it 6 weeks and now we are going on 4 months!

Thankfully, I was given Kristen’s name and number by an OBGYN and my sister in law.  She was highly recommended.  I was recovering from a difficult induction and c-section and struggling with getting my son to latch correctly and in addition he wanted to nurse all the time.  I was having quite a bit of pain.

I had spoken with several lactation consultants during my recovery in the hospital but was still in pain and struggling with constant feeds.  As soon as I got home from the hospital, I called Kristen.  She was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate.  During our first phone conversation, I could feel she was focused on helping me and my son succeed in our breast-feeding journey.  She came to my house the next day and as soon as she got there, she got to work.

She asked me important questions related to our health history, my pregnancy, and our feeding schedule.  She showed me how to hold my son during feeds that were easier positions for me and how to use my pump properly.  She gave me tips on storing my milk for use after my maternity leave and return to work.  She measured the amount of milk that I was producing to make sure that my son was getting enough.  It was so helpful to see that I was producing enough.

Even several weeks later when the pain was still present, she immediately came over and after looking at my son helped me realize that in fact my son had a tongue and lip tie, which is why I was still having pain and why he was nursing all the time.  Kristen referred me to a pediatric dentist and after a laser procedure was completed, the rest is history.  The pain subsided and my son was able to get enough milk at feeding times which allowed him to sleep longer.  We also attended Kristen’s Mommy and Me class which was extremely helpful as well.

I am so thankful for Kristen and consider her to be a part of my “care team” as a new mom.  I would not hesitate to refer my best of friends to Kristen and I will continue to keep her number in my phone because she is that good.  I don’t want to think about what may have happened if I had not called Kristen.

My son and I just stopped nursing about a month ago, shortly after his 2nd birthday.  I will always cherish the time we had together breast feeding and am so thankful for the bond we have built.

Kristen and the Orlando Lactation team are fantastic care professionals. “Care” is a word that gets thrown around a lot these days – so much so that it’s lost its meaning a bit. Kristen understands the importance of care, and delivers it with empathy, understanding, and critical attention to problems. My wife and I are so grateful we found Kristen and her team; she has helped us realize dramatic improvements in our household. I am one tremendously thankful Dad.

A little background for our family: Two months into our first baby, we started experiencing feeding challenges. We brought these issues up with our pediatrician and the Lactation consultant referral from the pediatrician, but neither shared our concerns. Baby was on his growth curve, so the pediatrician didn’t ask many questions after that, and tended to trivialize any of our worries. The problem was: it was taking us exceedingly long to feed him – 45 minutes to an hour for a ~4oz bottle. Baby was stressed out during feeds (both bottle and breast), as were we. We were quickly approaching a feeding aversion.

Since Mom was triple feeding around the clock and we both worked full time, we were at wit’s end. Family helped some, which was nice, but didn’t solve the crux of our problems. We started looking for day and night care just to help us maintain our sanity. But we knew a babysitter or even a nanny would not be able to help us with the level of challenge it was to feed the baby. We needed registered nurses. Eventually, I came across Orlando Lactation’s website. Late one evening, we gave Kristen a call to make an inquiry about day nurse services. As a business, that’s all she really had an obligation to respond to. But being the person she is, she inquired about the nature of our struggle, and if we were having any feeding problems. Oh, did we! She listened to us for 40+ minutes on the phone as we described our experience and challenges. Within days, she came over to perform an oral assessment of the baby and immediately found oral restrictions that would make feeding exceedingly difficult for him. We weren’t crazy. This was difficult news, but we were glad to finally have someone who acknowledged our problem and wanted to set us on the right path to recovery.

Kristen was my lactation consultant and really helped me with my baby’s feeding issues! My son was born at 36 weeks and had weight loss along with trouble latching and transferring milk at the breast. Kristen spent so much time with us to get to the bottom of his issues. I had breastfed my daughter for 13 months and I wanted to have the same breastfeeding relationship with my son. It was an incredibly stressful time in our lives and Kristen really made a difference for us. She checked in on us often to see how our journey was progressing. It took 8 weeks to get my son to feed exclusively at the breast and she was with me every step of the way. I highly recommend her to any moms who are looking for breastfeeding help. Thank you Kristen!!
